Access of workers to prevent transmission of infection in health care facilities.
KUNÍKOVÁ, Barbora
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of access of health-care workers to the prevention of communicable diseases in the health care facility. The goal of our thesis was to find out the knowledge and skills of the lower medical staff and cleaners. To determine whether healthcare workers and cleaners are trying to keep precautionary measures and also to map out the errors that occur. To fulfill the goals we have used the help of the two following questions. What is the frequency of violations of these policies? What are the staff errors while adhering to the principles to prevent infection? For the execution of the research survey we have chosen the qualitative approach with hidden observation. The research sample consisted of 15 observed staff of lower health workers, of whom 2 were men and 13 were women. Another 7 probands were cleaning staff, they were women. Results of the research survey have shown that the knowledge and skills in the area of prevention of infections obtained by staying in a health facility are deficient in the chosen research sample. Furthermore, the research survey has revealed that there is poor prevention in the health care facility as part of the clearing. Our research survey opens a space for deeper surveys aimed at health literacy of lower health care personnel and cleaning staff.

It also describes self-reflection, motivation, supervision in palliative care and burnout syndrome. The thesis also deals with the emotions of nurses in treating patients with hopeless prognoses and dying patients, as well as the prerequisites of healthcare professionals for treating patients with hopeless prognoses and deaths. The survey was conducted using qualitative research, the method of questioning, using non-standardized interviews. The research group consisted of eight nurses working in hospital České Budějovice a.s. at the departments of oncology, oncohematology, anaesthetic resuscitation, and apallic unit. The survey was conducted during the period from 20 July 2010 to 23 July 2010. he research showed that the mental state, especially their views of life, of nurses treating patients with hopeless prognoses and dying patients has been and is affected. Most of the nurses surveyed said that they have revalued their lives and now they have other priorities. One nurse said that she is trying to take care of herself more. Another important section deals with social aspects of vertebrogenous diseases in medical staff members, causes of sick leave and medical personnel turnover. The main objective of the thesis was to determine which specific profession included in the research database is the most endangered by vertebrogenous diseases. Other objectives were to find out if health professionals consider starting a new profession in consequence of vertebrogenous disease and also to determine the level of health professionals´ awareness of these diseases. The data needed to compile this thesis were obtained through the study of professional materials, using a questionnaire technique and an interview technique. The research was conducted using quantitative research and anonymous questionnaires. The questionnaires were distributed to medical personnel divided into four groups according to their professions. The outcomes show that all the professions included in the research are vulnerable to vertebrogenous diseases, the most endangered being operating theatre nurses. It is important especially in the health sector to use actively and practically all the means to ensure suitable working positions, such as comprehensive application of ergonomic requirements. The results of the research show that medical staff turnover is mainly caused by economic reasons. Management of our health care facilities should be aware of that fact and should involve personnel management tools such as corporate culture creation and communication. Furthermore, it was found that the majority of health professionals suffer form a lack of relevant information on vertebrogenous diseases and apply pharmacological treatment. It is important to draw attention to those errors in treatment and to provide professional public with quality information on all treatment options.
Confrontation of the awareness of future graduate and undergraduate paramedical workers in České Budějovice of the risks inherent in sexually transmitted diseases.
FÜRSTOVÁ, Romana
Sexuality is an inseparable part of life. Apart from natural reproduction processes it enables us to deepen our relationship with a beloved person and makes it possible to share positive feelings. Unfortunately it also brings various undesirable phenomena into our lives {--} for example unwanted pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases (STD). For this reason I chose STD as a topic of my bachelor thesis. The sample for my survey consisted of future paramedical workers with secondary and university education , i.e. the students of medical subjects at the Secondary Health Care School in České Budějovice and the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia. For them the risk of STD infection is double {--} not only in their personal life but also in terms of their future profession. Due to the fact that the topic is rather delicate, the survey was carried out on the basis of anonymous questionnaires. The questions were partly focused on concrete STD and the originator, incubation period or vaccination, and partly also on STD-related general facts. The objective of my bachelor thesis was to compare the awareness of future paramedical workers studying at the secondary school and at the university. After setting this objective I specified two hypotheses. The first hypothesis was as follows: Paramedics with university education are more aware of the threat of STD than those with secondary education. This hypothesis proved to be true. The second hypothesis: Students of medical subjects at the secondary school as well as the university are informed about a non-sexual way of STD transmission. This hypothesis was proved only among the students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies but not among the students of the secondary school.
